i'm trying to setup gmail in windows mail and i can't get it connected
i get this error:
"XOAUTH authentication failed. None of the authentication methods supported
by your IMAP server (if any) are supported on this computer."
if i disable secure password authentication, i get
"AUTHENTICATIONFAILED] Invalid credentials (Failure)"

XOAUTH authentication failed.
google doesn't allow access by "less secure apps" anymore. I think they
even switched off the option to still allow access. The only way around
it is using an application password.

You want to be a nut then you might as well, install the Androi
subsystem for windows, and
manually via command-line ( not using amazon or any service ) t
install whatever Mail application
or Google Android App. That should logically give you your Google mai
app on windows.

Going even further ( since google is a txt based system ) you coul
Vmware android 9 ( or whatever
and use that to check your google. Only allowing enough space you nee
for your Google experience.
So running a VM ( in Vmware, Vbox, or Hyper-V ), Not like your usin
"Second Life" or a GPU intense
situation
