If I download Google Chrome, how do I
switch between them ? (running W10)
First, to acquire an installation of Chrome, when you go to Chrome's
download page, Google recognizes your operating system and your browser.
I'm assuming that you are going to the google.com site to download
chrome and not one of the many other places that you might go if you put
chrome into a search engine. Whenever you search for something and get
hits and you are going to click on a link to go somewhere, you should
ALWAYS note where the link is going to take you. In the firefox
browser, that link information appears in a small 'annunciation' box at
the bottom left of your screen.
At the google.com site for chrome you are offered to download for 32 or
64 bit chrome, you are required to accept google's terms of service, you
have options to make chrome the default browser and to send back info to
google. I would accept the terms of service and decline to make chrome
the default browser or to send back info to google.
If you do it that way, then Firefox remains your default browser. If
you accidentally let chrome make itself the default browser then you
need to start Firefox to make it the default browser.
Post by BobHow do I designate Firefox as my default browser ?.
If you installed chrome and let it make itself the default, then you
need to re-assign the default to Firefox.
Start Firefox. In the upper R a short distance below the title bar is a
hamburger icon that some call a 'menu' button. One selection is
Preferences. That opens a function in Firefox which can also be seen by
putting about:preferences in the address line. That preferences has a
General section in which Firefox tells you that it is not the default
browser and has a button to Make Default. You can also check to always
ask/check if Firefox is default. You can also check that.
